Data analysis for people who cannot upload their data.
CLAIR is a desktop app that answers plain-English questions about a spreadsheet on the user's own computer, picks and checks the statistics, and shows the work behind each result.
The problem
The data cannot go to the cloud
Research, health, education and client data is often bound by ethics boards, data-use agreements or policy. Many institutions do not allow it in cloud AI tools, so the people holding it get no help from them.
Statistics is where work goes wrong
Choosing the right test and checking its assumptions is hard without training, and errors in published statistics are well documented. Most people with a spreadsheet have no statistician to ask.
The usual tools ask a lot
Statistics packages take months to learn and often cost a licence fee. Writing code is out of reach for most of the people who need the answer.
The product
Analysis runs locally by default, so data that is not allowed in a cloud tool can still be analyzed. Answers come with the calculation behind them, statistical tests come with their assumption checks, and a report records what was done.
The target first users are graduate students and research staff analyzing survey and clinical data without a statistician, then anyone with sensitive spreadsheets.
